I am a tad bit upset right now because I believe that my laptop is infected with a virus. I won't dwell on negativity though.

On yesterday, I enjoyed spending time with first graders at Country Fun Farms. They were supposed to go on the field trip last month, but couldn't because of all of the rain. I'm glad they didn't go at that time, because I wouldn't have been able to go with them. I had a blast just watching them have fun. They went through the corn maze, shot tennis balls at fake cows, rode a cow train, played in a corn bin, made icecream, went on a hayride, made butter, and picked pumpkins from the pumpkin patch.

I have enjoyed reading my classmates' blogs this semester. It's hard to believe that it is almost over. I don't think I'm going to continue to blog though. I am glad that this was a requirement for English 226. Since it is an online, blogging gave us a chance to get to know each other on a personal level.

I thought I would be finished with school next semester, but one of the classes I need to graduate is not being offered until the summer.  I have the option of taking it through LSU Baton Rouge, but I don’t think that will work in my favor.  The class is Auditing, and I need to be in an actual classroom setting for it.  I don’t want to go to school during the summer, but then again, I definitely don’t want to be in school in the fall.  So summer it is.

I can’t believe the year is almost gone.  My kid’s are looking forward to Christmas.  My son wants a cell phone, Playstation 3 and a PSP.  My daughter wants a laptop, digital camera, and a Nintendo DSi.  What happened to kids wanting actual toys.  Everything they want nowadays is some type of electronic device.

The slate article I choose comes from an advice column. The title of the article instantly caught my attention because I am extremely ticklish, and I get ticked-off by tickle attacks as well. When someone tickles me, I lose all self control. At times, I feel as if I can’t breathe. I don’t see anything wrong with tickling someone to get a good laugh out of them, but a person needs to when enough is enough. If they are not ticklish, then they don’t understand the type of torture they are putting you through by continuing to tickle you.

The weather was just so horrible Thursday. My son’s teacher stays in Greenacres Place, and her townhouse is one those that suffered damage from this fire.

From the look of this car, you would not think that someone was able to be removed from it alive. That was nothing but the grace of God.

My kids received their report cards today.  I am happy to say that both of them made the honor roll.  My daughter has four As and two Bs, and my son has one A and two Bs.  I am so proud of them both.  My daughter is obsessed with her grades.  She almost cried because she doesn’t have straight As.  She was close though, because her Bs are a 93% and a 90%.  She can be so melodramatic at times.

I hope they both stay encouraged and keep up the good work.  I haven’t decided what their reward is going to be yet.  I may just let them decide on what we do this weekend.

I cannot believe that a justice of the peace, in South Louisiana, refused to issue a marriage license to an interracial couple.  What decade is he living in?  He says that it is out of concern for any children they may have because in his experience, most interracial marriages don’t last.  He claims he’s not racist, but what else would you call it.  If he is so concerned about marriages lasting, then he shouldn’t be issuing marriage licenses at all.  The color of a couple’s skin does not determine whether or not their marriage is going to last.

I’m sure this is not the first time he has denied a couple their license, but this is the first couple to speak out.  I know we all have our own opinions about interracial couples, but people love who they love.

I am so exhausted.  I should have been finished with this blog 2 hours ago, but I keep nodding off.  I was up all night (morning) taking my daughter’s braids down.  I had originally planned on only taking some of them, but once I started I figured I may as well finish.  I began around 11:15 pm and finished around 4:00 am.  It took so long because she was asleep while I did it.  I finally laid down at 4:30 am and was back up at 5:45 am because I had to go to work.  I plan on going to bed very soon.

I am always mentioning how my son’s week went at school, but this week I want to share with you and email that my daughter’s teacher sent me yesterday.  Here it is in full context.

Ms. Johnson,
I wanted to let you know that Jennaezha is such a delight to have in class and always does what she is supposed to you.  She is very smart but a bit on the shy side.  I'm working towards getting her involved in class by raising her hand and answering questions.  Thanks for doing such a wonderful job raising her and giving her the guidance she needs.  Always thank you for your support each and every day.  Have a GREAT weekend!

Reading this made my day.  Now if only I get receive this type of feedback regarding my son.

My kids are really “working my nerves” today. I almost wish that I could lock them outside like the mother did in Sedaris’ “Let It Snow”. Just kidding, but I do wish I could have some peace and quiet today. I don’t know if it’s me, but for some reason they seem to be extra loud today. As I sit here now, I hear the tv in my son’s room and the tv and computer in my daughter’s room. I have told them to turn their tvs down, but that has gone in one ear and out the other.

My son had another good week at school. Nothing major enough to get a conduct report sent home. We still have things to work on, but he is definitely making progress.

Both of my kids have field trips next week that I won’t be able to go to. :( On Tuesday, my daughter is going to the Red River Revel and I can’t go because I have class. I can’t go to my son’s trip to the Corn Maize on Friday because I have to work. Oh well. The only thing that matters is that they have fun while there.
